Bike Line Spring XC Fairhill, MD

As the rest of the team raced and supported the Liberty Classic last Sunday, Bud Mauger and Leah Waldman ventured south to a cross county mountain bike race in Maryland. The conditions were beautiful - mid 70’s, and sunny with a slight breeze. The course was fast, mostly single track with a few fire roads and open fields. There were a few climbs, creek crossings, and tight rooty sections.

The race started out fast with a long prologue which immediately climbed uphill and spread across a field before entering the woods. Leah entered the woods in 4th place and quickly moved into 3d position for most of the first lap. She was able to move up to 2nd by the end of the lap, and with perseverance was able to come out for the win. Bud unfortunately had a rough day with some mechanicals holding him back from the podium, but still finishing in an impressive 14th place.
