The New Bethlehem Criterium – Bethlehem, PA

Judi leads the way off the start lineNonnie Mann, Judi Rivera and Kimberly Zubris represented the women of Peanut Butter & Co. Human Zoom at the New Bethlehem Criterium on Saturday June 16, 2012 in Bethlehem, PA. The New Bethlehem crit is raced on a flat, fast 0.85 mile square loop around Liberty High School. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect on race day with sunny skies and temperatures in the high-70s. The beautiful weather brought out many of the local Bethlehem residents whose homes lined the course and who were excited to catch some of the racing action.
Nonnie started the day off racing the Women 35+ race, which was grouped together with the strong Masters Men 55+ and 65+ fields. The pack held together throughout most of the Masters’ race and Nonnie finished in 4th place in the Women 35+ before immediately rolling to the line for the Women Open race. Nonnie was also joined by Kim in the Women Open field, while Judi lined up for the Women Cat 4 race.

Kim and Nonnie discussing race strategy on the line

Lining up for the start of the Women Open/Cat 4 races
Knowing she had a good warm-up from the previous race, Nonnie worked hard throughout the Women Open race following several moves from other teams and keeping the pace high riding on the front. With 10 laps to go, Kim made a move off the front along with a Rockstar Games/Signature Cycles rider but was pulled back into the field within 3 laps. Coming into the last few laps of the race, Nonnie again put forth a solid effort to keep the field working hard, which let Kim rest up for the finishing sprint in which she finished 4th. Judi also raced well throughout the day, finishing in 6th for the Cat 4 women.
